Comcast DNS Issues | Troubleshooting and Fix

Shared from the Bellingham WP Facebook page. View the post on Facebook.

Last night I was having issues with my internet connection through Comcast. After some initial troubleshooting, the issue appeared to be with Comcast’s DNS. After hard-coding Google’s DNS server addresses into my network adapter the issue was resolved.

– Google’s DNS –
Primary: 8.8.8.8
Secondary: 8.8.4.4

Yea, Comcast DNS can really be bad at times. One issue I have with Comcast broadband is the support group hardly ever has any updates informing customers of any issues. You end up digging in forums or going to DSLreports.com for updates. I too have tried OpenDNS and Google DNS for these times when I suspect Comcast issues. Unfortunately Comcast’s DNS servers when working correctly are closer then anything else and I tend to go back to them.
